A rite of passage experience for youth ages 14 and up.
Each of us experience times of great transition—transition from one type of life into another
aspect of life. These major transitions in life are important experiences providing us with an
opportunity to mark who we are and who we are becoming as a person.
The Journey is a Christian-based rite of passage program that marks these transitional moments in a person’s life by putting them in a situation similar to Jesus’ time in the wilderness after his baptism. Once there, through the process of challenge and ritual, participants will discover the “why” of life, even their true name. They will be given a new perspective on life, as well as a story that marks who they are, whose they are, and what they are to do. This happens through a tri-fold process: severance, threshold, and
reincorporation. Discussion, Christian ritual, personal, and communal experiences are also used to bring order, meaning, and language to the overall experience.
Vision: We want “The Journey” to be used as a vehicle to reach all men and women, boys and girls, who need to transition from one point to another in their life and in the process, become closer to Jesus Christ.
